Chile Lands Advances in its Energy Storage Project in Vallenar

In its ongoing commitment to sustainable development and innovation in the energy sector, Chile Lands is taking firm steps toward realizing its energy storage project in Vallenar. Led by Paula Villar, General Manager of Chile Lands, the team recently met with María Francisca Valenzuela, head of the gender and human rights office at the Ministry of Energy, to discuss the project's progress and positive impact.

The project, known as Battery Energy Storage SpA, is a milestone in the design of energy storage parks. This pioneering project aims to contribute to Chile's decarbonization plan and serve as an example of innovative and sustainable technology.

Located in Vallenar, in the Atacama Region, the project will occupy an area of 1.5 hectares and has an estimated service life of 30 years. The choice of this strategic location is due not only to its logistical advantages but also to its proximity to key potential clients in the industry, such as AMSA Minera Los Pelambres, ENAMI Concentration Plant and LX-SX-EW Vallenar, and many other leading companies in the mining and energy sectors.

A fundamental part of the project is the integration of a gender perspective at all stages. Paula Villar points out: “We are committed to actively involving women from the community in the Bess project, ensuring that more than 90% of those working on it are women. We want them to identify with the gender and equality approach we promote, and we are working to ensure that all women know how they can contribute.”

The energy storage project in Vallenar demonstrates Chile Lands' commitment to innovation, sustainability, and gender equality.
