Continuing to develop initiatives and commit to fostering gender diversity and promoting equal opportunities, Paula Villar, General Manager of Chile Lands, along with her partner HDT, led a meeting on December 27th with María Francisca Valenzuela, head of the Gender and Human Rights Office at the Ministry of Energy. The meeting was conducted through the lobbying law platform.
The main purpose of this meeting was to discuss the development of the Bess storage project and its positive impact on the development of the Atacama region, as well as the inclusion of women as a key focus in each of the project's stages. The initiative aims to contribute to the importance of incorporating a gender perspective, helping to close the 23% gap for women in energy.
The development of the Bess Project represents a significant step toward the development of disruptive storage projects, contributing to greater gender equality in the energy sector and driving positively impactful changes in practices within the sector.
Commitment of Chile Lands & Minerals SpA
From Chile Lands & Minerals, we are committed to driving the country toward a diverse and inclusive energy transition, providing equal opportunities for women.
The transition to renewable energy sources and the creation of associated jobs is not enough to close the gender gap in women's participation in the workforce. This requires implementing policies that encourage women to study science and technology (STEM)-related careers to reduce the gaps in the number of women professionals in this field. It also requires promoting the exchange of best practices across different sectors to develop programs and policies that ensure women remain in the energy sector. Paula Villar, through her leadership of the general management team, has worked on initiatives that support this commitment.
